Transmissions
It doesn’t matter if you have a manual or automatic transmission; they both do the same thing. Transmissions, or gearboxes depending on where you’re from, provide a reverse gear and mechanical advantage to the engine’s power output. Your engine works best within a given RPM range. Go above that range, and the engine might fly apart violently. At RPMs below the engine’s peak torque output, the engine isn’t working as efficiently as it could. The transmission helps keep the engine in a good operating range for maximum power and efficiency. I’m going to divide this article into two sections: automatic transmissions and manual transmissions. We’ll start with manual transmissions.

My 08 town and country dies when put in drive. It drives in reverse perfectly. I called a transmission shop and they want to just change the whole transmission. Is there something that could cause it. it isn’t throwing any codes. Any help especially where to start looking would be appreciated.

Hello Eric, love you videos, great work with the explanations and teaching. Eric I’m stuck and need help please. My 2004 honda element has delayed shift with what seems to be all gears. I’ve changed oil,v-tech assembly, oil pressure switch and sensors. I had a blinking D light but that’s now fixed when I changed my oil pressure switch. Still my car is bucking between gears. Could you please help me? Thank you in advance

Hello my Name is Alex I have a Automatic 99 Honda Civic that leaks ATF from lower section. Very low fluid doesn’t allow the car to start. Adding & waiting about 5 mins will make the car turn on but I know this is something that needs help ASAP No idea if it’s worth fixing or It’s done for good.

Hello I wanted to say that my manual transmission is making noises and I thought it was the clutch at first but then I replaced it and put everything back together. And I saw o e of your videos. And it said to replace the main shaft bearing. But the clutch that it had before was 3 weeks old and was already beat up. What could it be?

Hi Eric,
I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE Automatic 4cylinder 1.8Liter. At times that the 1st gear doesn’t doesn’t switch to 2nd gears. I have to pull over on the side of th road and shift it back to Park then back to “Drive”. the gears switches only when it hits 20mph. after the fact. I have changed the transmission fluid, changed the filter but still does the same. It could be Shift Solenoid? If it is, i would like to take the valve body down and check the solenoid. I just need to know which bolt to unscrew to take the valve body down.

2015 Honda Odyssey, has 6 transmission fluid pressure sensor switches. Do you have pictures of the sensor in the lower front that is I believe located behind a two bolt protective cover (need to remove cover to replace switch?)
