Pattern Repairs -ETCG1
The idea for Pattern Repairs came to me as I was working at the shop one day. In my career I’ve found that many times you get a ‘run’ on certain repairs. Granted, some of these repairs are due to changes in the weather, but others don’t seem to be related to that. Sometimes you seem to see a lot of the same break downs in a short period of time. I call these, “Pattern Repairs”. In my case, it was blower motors on Acuras. It wasn’t a few weeks before I shot this video that I had replaced the blower motor in my 1993 Acura Vigor. Now, I’m repairing a blower motor in a 1997 Acura 3.2 TL which shares the same blower motor set up as the Vigor. Since I don’t do a large volume of work at the shop, it seemed odd that in such a short span of time I was doing the same repair on a different vehicle. Thus my theory on ‘Pattern Repairs’ was born.
What are your experiences with Pattern Repairs? Have you seen a run on a particular repair come into the shop? As a DIYer, have you seen a run on a particular problem with vehicles in your neighborhood or workplace? I’d love to hear your feedback on this one.
