Last month I bought a new 2019 Honda CRV with 1.5L engine. I’m old school and that experience tells me to make my first oil change at 1000 miles after break in period, however, I’m a little confused after watching one of Eric’s videos on manufacturer additives added to the engine to aid in breaking in engine. He said that we should follow the manufacturer’s oil change recommendations……this could be 5000 miles or more! There could be metal particles suspended in the oil for that length of time. Please clarify: do I follow my experience or the manufacturer?
