      I can’t get the car into first gear. It will grind and pop out of gear. I very well could have done something wrong when reinstalling everything. ( first time dropping a transmission)
      Any tips on what to look for before trying to find a used transmission.

        Is it just first gear?
        To replace the input shaft bearing, you have to completely dismantle the transmission. Given that and a first-gear-only problem, your problems are much more likely due to a transmission assembly error than to a transmission installation error.
