I think it should start with low compression across all cylinders like that seeing its not to low (below 100 would be different story i think

Maybe engine wear? how many Kilometers/Miles has the engine got?

Could be piston rings or cylinder wall is worn or both but thats a engine rebuild

But it should still start it cant be to bad seeing its making some kind of compression

Heres a video that might help its even a toyota (camry or a corolla i think) so could indicate a issue with toyotas steering racks

Find your power steering pump and run the lines back and that should lead to your reservoir if you dont have 1 that could be a problem

I think ive heard of copper nickel brake lines i dont know what their benefits are but if you are replacing ALL brake lines

But steel braided brake lines…. i know they could be a good investment they are rubber lines not metal though so you could get both if you wanted to go all out with your brakes

WOW thanks for the book haha but you should maybe think about a service manual from the manufacturer or aftermarket (haynes or gregorys are both good)

They have everything in them procedures torque settings for everything you name it

Is it a DOHC or SOHC engine (1 or 2 camshafts per cylinder head) if its DOHC it is possible that the camshafts act directly on the valves with buckets and shims which can be added and taken away to adjust the valve clearance, if its only 1 cam per head SOHC it will most likely have tappets/rockers which are either adjustable or hydraulic, if they are adjustable you can adjust it with a feeler gauge if its hydraulic make sure your using correct viscosity oil because hydraulic rockers/tappets (whichever you prefer) are not adjustable they rely on oil flow

Sometimes starters need shims to line up correctly something eric does to test a starter is paint the teeth of the starter install it, run it and remove it and see where the starter made contact

Make your own marks (white out or a white marker of some kind)

It should have marks of some kind shouldnt it like a punch in the cam gears and the cylinder head and the crankshaft with the engine block

But if it doesnt make your own marks from the gears to the block and the head start by making sure NO.1 cylinder is TDC compression stroke then again i dont think it matters what stroke and spin it over TWICE and see if it lines up again

could be im not exactly sure what courses that to happen though haha i just know that it does it, it could be a special synchro ring on 5th gear =o or the fact that reverse isnt sycrhonised at all or the shift fork on the selectors
