Right now we are cleaning the rocker arms, lifters and spark plugs. Because of backfiring and running rich, the rocker arms and especially the spark plugs have black soot on them. . .

We dropped the fuel tank and replaced fuel pump and fuel sending unit. This made it start again but sputters and stalls. Truck has a very bad erratic rpm and then it stalls. The fuel filter had dark brown gas and black specks of dirt come out. We drained the fuel tank and the gas had a funny odor. Could be ethanol smell, i’m not sure, but the smell was stronger than ever.
