Thanks Wysetech. I wonder though why it tightened up from, as you say, light drag to solid and unmoveable?

someone on the net when I googled it mentioned that they had this trouble and a quick tootle round the block sorted it.

but ill crack on tomorrow and see what happens.

            thanks mate πŸ™‚

Masster, from your first post onwards on this subject you have made personal comments that are completely inappropriate.

I think if you watch Eric’s videos you will note that he’s the first one to hold his hands up if he gets something wrong. That’s why people watch his show; an honest guy doing a great job.

Eric strikes me as a person who will listen and adapt his videos in response to Subscribers’ tips/thoughts. I’m fairly confident your inappropriate personal jibes will see you banned from the site. And if Eric chooses not to ban you he’s got a lot more patience than most of us!

Keep up the great work, Eric πŸ™‚

Eric, another great video. Is it just me or towards the end of the vid when you’re shining it up against the garage door does one look brighter? Maybe just a trick of the camera.

As for the dislikes I wouldn’t be too concerned… if you consider that out of all the people who have liked/disliked its only 16% of people that dislike… if that’s your worst amount I’d say that was pretty darn good πŸ˜‰

                            Hi guys, hope you’re well.

Another development in this case…. for the good! πŸ™‚

Following the MAF swap out I reported seeing an immediate improvement in MPG and performance. Well I left it at that thinking the issue was solved. I did an MPG check (using the brim to brim method) and found I was getting 14mpg….. WTF! lol

Anyhow, I was disappointed to say the least but I simply continued on the diagnostic path i’d been on. luckily for me the real fault manifested itself very quickly….

The EGR pipe from exhaust manifold to inlet manifold had a crack… I found it following a tip i’d picked up where you put a bit of tissue on the end of a pen or something and slowly move it around the exhaust area… as soon as the leak was found it started blowing and flapping my piece of tissue :):):)

Swapped out the pipe (Β£10 from a UK breaker) and since then everything has REALLY picked up. the fuel tank stays filled for a lot longer and the performance is fantastic.

So in conclusion it’s all about perseverance. I liken this fuel economy issue to Eric’s performance issue series… going through the basics and searching and searching but in a logical way.

I have hardly spent any money fixing this… but a lot of time. I have to say though that the journey has been really interesting. and I’ve learned so much. and as i’m in college learning mechanics it’s really helped.

Anyway thanks for all input from everyone. :):)
