This is very hard to help over internet but we will try.
1. Make a short video showing tach while cranking car and try to catch sound of engine.
WOW thanks so much! I greatly appreciate your time and help. And I fully understand. But I do appreciate it greatly!
Please give me some time. I’m at the doctors.
Thank you so much!
Ed
1. Have you tested crank sensor?
2. Does car have tach gage in car?
The crank sensor is new. From what I read if there is something wrong with the crank sensor there will be no spark. (Which I have) is that true?Yes car has a tach.

God Bless
Wyr
Yes that is correct sir.
I do not suppose you started at the wrong end of the engine ?
God bless
Wyr
No, it’s almost impossible to. The coil and wires are numbered.
Plus the wires are all different lengths.Thank you so much for your time and help.

If it pops back It sounds like timing. All timing marks like up?
hello. Thanks for your time and help. Timing Belt is only a few months old. But the timing marks line up perfectly with cam bar and crank pin. That has been double checked.
Did it ever run correctly after the timing belt was replaced ? I think it is possible to have the timing marks correct , but be one full revolution off ? Best I remember , the crank rotates 2 revolutions for every revolution of the cam or cams ?
But if this is the problem , it would not have run after the belt was replaced .
I have read of the belt being 1 tooth off / wrong and either ran terrible or not at all .
God bless
Wyr
Yes it ran for about 2 months after the timing belt was replaced.
But it acted like it had a vacuum leak. If I put the car in nuetral while driving the rpms would go up instead of settling down. But sitting still it idled fine. The car just keep running worse and worse.
No CEL or stored codes!Thank you so much for your time and help
Did you replace with new or used?
Both coils were brand new.
All the parts I’ve replaced so far have been new.Thank you
Ed
1. Did you test the coil pack? Just because it has fire does not mean its good.
I’ve replaced it twice. But if you can tell me how to test it I’d be more then happy to.
Thank you
Ed
Is the firing order 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 ?
God Bless
Wyr
Yes that is correct sir.
Double check to see if the spark plug wires did not get connected to the wrong plugs / cylinders .
Next , after it gets completely dark , at night , raise the hood & look for spark jumping where it should not . While a friend tries starting the car .
Did you say how many miles on the car ?
I too was thinking about cam timing ?
Does it have a distributor or a coil pack .
Watched a video recently where the mechanic found an electronic part was bad , in the distributor . Causing weak / erratic spark . If you have a distributor , check the rotor & distributor cap .
All the grounds OK ?
God bless
Wyr
Thank you so much for your time and help.Wires are connected to right spots. Triple checked. Wires and coil pack are numbered 1-4. Very hard to mess up.
Car has 160
coil pack on car.
Grounds are good.
I greatly appreciate your time and help!!!!!
Thank you and God Bless also
The engine is a dual overhead cam in-line 4-cylinder engine that uses a coil pack, plug wires and regular style spark plugs from what I recall.
The original poster will have to specify if it is automatic or standard transmission.I sold my Ford after I had to do several repairs to it at 60,000 miles, including replacing the timing belt, and water pump.
The car is an automatic.
1. Is car automatic or stick shift?
2. Does car have regular plugs or coil over plugs?
3. Explain what happened right before it quit running last?
Car is automatic
Regular plugs
The car would start and idle rough. And there was no power. If I played with the gas pedal the rpms would go up eventually but very slow. One time it started and seemed to be running very well but pinging really bad under load. I went to the gas station and put gas in it. And the car seemed to be running great! But then light a light switch the car went back instantly to barely idling with no power when I pushed the gas.it was then taken to a shop. They advised me that it was the cat and an 02 sensor even though I had no codes. I replaced the items with Ford parts and it ran exactly the same. I then went out the next day after I went and bought a scanner but the car would not start back up since.
Thank you so much for your help and time.
What is your location? Maybe someone could look at it with you?
Because it backfired, and the compression looks good, and you verified the cam timing, then I would make sure the spark plug wires are routed to the coil pack correctly? I think if the crank trigger was giving you problems, the computer would throw a code?
Also, make sure you have good engine and body grounds, and good battery cables.
Hello, thanks so much for your reply and help.
I live in New Castle Delaware by the Christiana Mall and Cabelas. Zip Code is 19720.

The grounds I believe are good. From what I researched and inspected.

Did I post my question on the wrong section?
your in the right section. have you tested for spark? try spaying some stater fluid
in the intake to see if it fires. confirm spark first. see if this helps.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2upDh6-FMo%5B/quote%5D
Thanks so much for trying to help me! Sorry I didn’t get right back. I suffer from severe migraines. And between the migraines and this car I’ve been having a tuff time!
I have spark. If I spray starting fluid in the throttle body it just pops back through the intake when I try to start it. -
