My experience is that if the STFT and LTFT run much past 10+ or – cumulatively it will cause an issue.

Brake clean and visual inspection for the air leaks.

Like I said, the car runs perfectly just has P0420 and needs to clear before inspection.

Fuel Trims are out of spec, 12+ on the STFT and -2.3 LTFT. Fuel pressure is good, no air leaks. Not sure on MAF readings. Car isn’t here to check now.

Car is running perfectly otherwise, with no adverse running conditions.

I’m not just throwing parts at the car and have only replaced items which have been confirmed to be bad.

          Hey Eric…

So far I’ve replaced the IM gasket for good measure as the car has almost 200k with no service history on it. The gasket was indeed hard and not very pliable.

I’ve also replaced the MAF after registering a max of 80 load at full throttle.

There are no other air leaks, on the intake or exhaust side of things, which is why I’m thinking it’s the non-denso o2 sensors. What do you think based on that info?

Anyone else vote for the non-Denso o2 sensor being the likely culprit?

Any updates on this? I’m currently working on a 2000 Echo and the LTFT are showing 29.7 and STFT is showing -20.9, so way out of spec. The car is also throwing P0171 and I have no air leaks and a new MAF has not cleared the issue.

At this point I’m thinking it’s bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor as it was replaced recently with a non-Denso unit. Any other ideas?

I wouldn’t bother simply because of the price difference with no notable benefit. Steel lines will be more than adequate for a daily driver.

                          Hey Eric…

Yeah, the fluid level is still low as I shut it down once I realized it was leaking. It only leaks while the truck is running and has pressure to the transmission. I was thinking maybe the vent was plugged or something but it appears to be clear of any blockages?

The truck is about 30 mins away so I have no personal pics, but it’s just like this here.

On the little blown up image, it’s coming out from under the grommet where the grommet meets the transmission, not where the tube meets the grommet. So that it making me think the hole in the transmission casing is bored out too much, but it’s been leak free for over 100k miles so I don’t know why it would be too large now, there was never any metal on metal contact to enlarge the hole.

It’s wacky for sure, just looking for a way to fix it without dumping a bunch of snake oil stop leak shit in there.
