Why would you want to go to a dealership? When you get there your gonna be the new guy again. Get stuck doing all the warranty work, checking new cars in, and doing huge jobs that will make you no money. Eveyone Ive talked to that use to be a dealerships say they would never go back.
Ive never adjusted one out of the box even though it says to. I just install it, plug it in then start the vehicle. I let the computer adjust it to where it needs to be.
Ratchet wrenches are worth their weight in gold, I know the snap on guys here will warrenty out gear wrench brand. I bought a Blue Point set and I believe that they are made by gear wrench but have blue point stamped on them.. lol
Im not sure what to tell you about books and study guides. I personally didnt use any so I wouldnt know what ones to recommend. Im pretty sure if you buy the study guides from ASE they will guarentee you pass the test or you get your money back. I think the details are on the web site. As far as geometry and trig… that wont help you at all, the test is about cars not math.
When you take the ASE tests, just take your time and read the questions. Dont over think whats being asked, and treat the tech A and tech B questions as 2 different problems
