Having “one side” compatible with any given engine and the opposite side compatible with any given transmission . Then in order for it all to work the computer s programmed to that particular combo. And if you wanted to upgrade you simply got a new converter, trans, and program to run the combo. But in reality the engine determines the torque converter, which in turn determines the transmission? However it seems you can buy part packs to adress known issues with this transmission? But not increase its durability for higher torque loads?
