Mostly short circuits, couple of them on the airbags, but I scanned it about an hour ago and there’s something on the steering angle sensor: “Error compensating” I think it would translate to.

Finally got around to work on my car. Disassembling the turbocharger was quite annoying and tricky, as most bolts are hidden behind the exhaust piping and the air filter box, but once we got it out…

Completely seized and started pouring oil everywhere, even from where it’s not supposed to.
So I took apart the intake manifold, and I was met with this:

Took a couple of days in the ultrasound cleaner to get rid of this mud. Once cleaned, I removed the little flaps, got a new pierburg valve, and bolted everything back together.

Once I take the turbocharger and bolt it back on, I’ll start working on other things. Some bearings in both front suspension arms are goners, and so is the steering box. The rear alloys are bent beyond recognition, the rear springs have done their time, and I really need to think about something for that exhaust pipe, it’s hideous.

Other than that, I’m thinking about lowering the car and getting a self-locking differential. That’ll increase value, although this coupé is worth next to nothing. But hey, I wouldn’t mind having to drive her into the ground for the next 20 years.

I’ve been working as a mechanic for only 2 years. Dropped out of high school and found the job.

I came in knowing next to nothing, but eventually I started learning more and more. Hell, I even trust myself enough to work on my own car now!

However, if you’re up to get covered in motor oil, dust, sweat, and sometimes even hurting yourself on that one bolt you just can’t get undone (looking at you Volvo lol), then I say go for it. The level of satisfaction you reach once you see the car you’ve worked on so hard driving off in the distance without a problem… Well, I don’t think there’s something that can top that. Except some other things I’m sure we’re not allowed to talk about on the forums lol.

Anyway, as tiring as the job is, I find it fun. After all, it’s what I like. And it’s all I got.
