Eric, I know this is being pedantic but when your refer to ‘patients’ in this video I think you mean patience. That is unless you and Brian were bleeding after you finished the shoot!

Your use of specialised hose pliers gave me an ‘Ah Ha!’ moment, ‘Boy could I use a pair of those!”. Well I visited Victoria Market in Melbourne today and, as usual, stopped at the tool shop and bought a pair. Cost was $13AUD, pretty good I thought. Of course I did not get out of there before I had bought a 10 and 12mm T-Handle ‘nut runner’ that you have also demonstrated. $7AUD each. I should probably got a 14mm as well which would have covered most of the fasteners on my motorcycles and my cars as well.This led to my buying a door card removal tool, $8AUD, something I have always wished I had, plus another couple of tools, one I have also previously needed and another extending light and magnetic pick up tool.
Not bad considering I only went there to buy an Australian Flag patch!

That is very true Evil, but I have to make an exception in the case of my VFR, my Goldwing and my 1250 Bandit, I have never been able to kickstart any of them!
Of course that may be because none of them actually HAVE a kickstart lever!I last rode a motorcycle that had a kickstart in 1979 but I confess I contemplated buying a honda 500 single roadbike in the mid 90’s but although I started my motorcycling career on 500cc singles I found that i did not enjoy them any more. Spoilt by multi cylinder bikes with more power than I could use I suppose.
Some years later I was trying to demonstrate the art of kickstarting, a similar bike to riders who had never actually used a kickstart. To my chagrin, I found I no longer had the knack!

Vancouver Island eh? Our daughter, then married to a Canadian, lived in Victoria on Vancouver Island for several years and we have visited the Island although I did not ride there.
Pretty place, but without the riding opportunities available in Australia! On our last long trip to a Ulysses Club AGM in 2014 I covered 13,000 klm towing the camper trailer behind the Goldwing (see pic on earlier post) from Melbourne to Adelaide then Alice Springs. We returned via Darwin, Townsville and Tully in Far North Queensland and then back down the East Coast via Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
The Ulysses Club is a Social Club for Motorcyclists over the age of 40. Founded in Australia in 1983 there are Ulysses Clubs all over the world now. There used to be a Canadian Ulysses Club, based in Calgary but it folded after a few years. Too much snow I think!

PS I owned a Vincent Comet, the 500 single, in 1967 and sold it in 1969 to get married for 120 GBP. They are now worth about $40,000AUD! Mind you, one Vincent in any mans life is enough, give me a reliable modern multi-cylinder motorcycle with electric start any day. Just lean on that button…
Thanks for the pics, Crawford, very interesting, I have never seen those bikes in Australia. I wonder why, we have a fair number of trikes but it is probably because Australian motorcyclists are obsessed with capacity and 300cc would be ‘just too small’! I know my bikes are fairly large capacity but I like all bikes and scooters. I started riding in 1965 on scooters and had 2 before my first motorcycle.
Australia is a big country, as big as the continental United States but with only about 27 million people so a Honda Goldwing is a very suitable machine for long distance touring, particularly if you are towing a camper trailer. In 2014 we attended the Ulysses Club AGM in Alice Springs and then visited Darwin, Townsville and Tully in FNQ (Far North Queensland) before returning home. A trip of 13,000 Kilometres, or 8,125 miles.
Last year we drove through the Smoky Mountains, and they are beautiful, on the way to visit my friend Joe in Beckley, West Virginia.
Good to see another long married couple, our 47th Anniversary is later this year, as you say, and counting…

Attachments:I am a retired Australian and have been riding for 51 years. I used to say every day, but since I retired 6 years ago I can no longer say this! I have a 1996 Honda 1500 Goldwing Aspencade, bought “Pre-loved” in 1999 with 5,600 Klm on it. It now has 180,000+. I also have a 1997 Honda VFR750, bought new in 1997 which has 170,000+ on it, and a 2003 Suzuki 1250 Bandit, it has about 67,000 klm on it but I think visiting Americans who have borrowed it put on at least 12,000klm of that.
Since I retired from an IT career 6 years ago I have recovered my ability to work on motor vehicles and have just finished renovating a 1995 3.0 litre V6 Mitsubishi Magna (An Australian Built vehicle). I thank Eric for the inspiration and confidence building!
I have visited America twice, in 2013 I rode a Honda ST1300 9000 miles around middle America with an Australian friend, he on his Harley which he keeps in the USA, and me on the Honda borrowed from a Bike Swap buddy who has been out to Australia and borrowed my Bandit. Pity my trip ended in Delta Hospital in Colorado! Nothing to do with the bike, I fell over my feet at the Grand Canyon and ended up with a severely infected leg. Moral, don’t travel without travel insurance, which I had.
We drove across America last year (2015) and this time Marilyn started the trip with 3 days in Colorade University Hospital in Denver, heart trouble this time, but after a delay of about a week we did start our trip visiting friends right across the country. I absolutely love America and Americans, you are a terrific bunch of people!
