I think it’s BS them telling you to live with a leaking head gasket. I wouldn’t accept that answer.
September 23, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: Toyota DIY parts reference, prices and microfiche #456093Thank you! Noticed that they don’t sell Toyota parts, but once you know what you need from this sight, dies anyone know where to get good deals on Toyota parts online? I haven’t been successful with google searching..
This is a nice trick but I’m not too happy with the resolution you would get in a milliampere range current draw. But it did give me an idea that I could take a blown fuse, place maybe a 10 ohm resistor accros it and use that for a makeshift ammeter that I could measure each branch at a time. The higher resistance would give me much more resolution at lower currents.
+2 on changing the caliper. I spent about 40 bucks on a remanufactured caliper with all the new hardware from advance auto parts. You have to pay a core charge that is refunded when you bring the old hardware back.
I would put in a complaint with the owner or manager of the dealership. Not the service manager. I have always gotten their attention this way.
Thank you for letting us know the result. And congrats on your successful repair.

I was wondering if there was a way to cheat and make the ABS valve actuate without the scan tool, maybe with the wheel lifted and the car in neutral you could have someone turn one wheel only while another person lightly applies the brakes you could trick the ABS into activating? Doesn’t the ABS look for difference in wheel spin?
Thanks for the update. Problems of these nature “hidden in plain site” can be very difficult to solve
Did pull the code for the CEL yet?

My brakes are always warm barely touchable on both my cars even with light use. I’m thinking it might be normal. Especially if all your brakes are the same. How many miles have you been getting out of your pads before you have to replace them?
Welcome aboard. I like Subarus, my next car will be looking at maybe a Forrester.
