don’t know if your vehicle is set up like mine, but I just changed my fuel pump because it had the same symptoms as yours. There is a check valve in my fuel pump that maintains fuel pressure after the vehicle is off. If that check valve leaks, you loose the fuel pressure and then the pressure has to be built back up on start causing a hard start.

thanks for responding. Just trying to make a judgement call on laying out the money for the whole setup. Is there a thickness that the rotor should be to make that call?

The rotors are smooth front and back with a small lip around the edges. No warble when coming to a quick stop. Pads have a little under a 1/4 inch left.

Sounds like your car is overheating. Thermostat, water pump, and coolant levels may be a good place to start.
