Quoted From Third Gear:
That’s a good start. If he is smelling fuel then probably it is a spark issue. Although, malfunctioning injectors could also flood the engine and it will not start.
That’s what I’m thinking too, it has to be no spark or the engine is flooded.
He could pin the throttle to the floor to put it in clear flood mode while he cranks it to see if it will try to start then.Running rough… as in a miss fire?
I would do a power balance test on it.
Eric has a video on how to do it.
Heres a link to the video, if it doesn’t work just go to youtube.com and type in (Ericthecarguy power balance test) hope this helps.

Thank you very much, that will come in handy for me and many others I’m sure!T)
Quoted From chemo:
The transmission fluid is a shade of light brown. Back in November of last year I changed my valve cover gaskets and solved my “spark plug drenched in oil” issue. I also changed my wires and spark plugs at the same time. Now, many months later, I have oil where the spark plugs are, so I cleaned them and checked the gaskets about 2 weeks ago. They did not look brittle.Oil is slowly starting to coat the plugs.
If oil is getting down in the spark plug tubes, that’s the first thing i would fix.
That just might fix your entire problem.September 15, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 2006 Saturn Vue 2.2L stiff shifter —5 spd manual #439406Yes, new gear oil would be a good idea.
This is front wheel drive right?
If so then look into the shift linkage system, something could be binding up.September 15, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 2006 Saturn Vue 2.2L stiff shifter —5 spd manual #439408If this uses a cable the cable could be rusty.
If it’s mechanical oil up the joints and see if that helps.I have a 88 mazda mx-6 GT that I’m restoring.
The car has alot of rot, so I’m busy cutting all of it out and putting new metal in.Quoted From dseries16:

its a 1984. i think i am getting close to needing a new one. i have seen some fords and Chevy that screw out i think. i never had a clutch go bad on me but the guy who had this before beat it to hell. so do all clutches pretty much get taking out from inside the car? i am sure this one is pretty easy i just cant find this step in my manual. maybe i need a different one. and will the boot just come off or do i need to cut it?
I’ve never seen a shifter boot that has to be cut.
It may have a very small vacuum leak but, i would not worry about it.
It’s not loud and if the car runs and drive fine don’t fix what’s not broke ya know.T)September 8, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 94 chevy pickup 03 impala hard to start sometimes #440958Quoted From ark_454SS:
Wore out points in the distributor cap also. Good tune up, new wires plugs and cap, you’ll be good to go!
I don’t believe they used points and condensers in the 90’s.
I’ve never seen them on any of the 80’s or 90’s vehicles i have worked on.September 8, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 94 chevy pickup 03 impala hard to start sometimes #440959I’ve seen this many times with older GM trucks.
Probably could use a new cap and rotor and maybe wires too if they have not been replaced in a long time. -
