I believe the series 3 3800 went back to a aluminum upper intake manifold instead of the composite/plastic on the series 2. Iam not sure if any changes were made to the lower other then improved aluminum framed gaskets which are available now for the series 2 3800. The series 3 most likely has these installed from the factory I would believe. Keep the oil changed and an eye on your coolant level that motor will go well over 200,000 miles.
