Im at a toyota dealer too. ya we are starting to see alot of the same things. especially now that most new toyotas come with entune and bluetooth for both calling and audio people will just take it to the dealer instead of reading the manual. also the sale people should explain to the customers when they buy the car. i think if the dealership actually started charging the customer to diagnose those things maybe they would actually take the time to set it up. today i had a customer brand new corolla witjlh 15k miles complaining of a vibration over 60 and a whining noise when coming to a stop. sure enough took the car for a drive and nothing was wrong with it other than the customer driving an avalon and switching to a corolla thinking that it will drive like an avalon. spent at least 45 minutes driving around and got 0.00 for it

try performing voltage drops on the wires. that sometimes reveals more accurate results. .4 ohms mighgt be a little high for wiring.

Hi I’m Greg and as you can tell from my screen name, I work for Toyota. Graduated from UTI with automotive / Toyota programs. I started out in this industry working for a Jiffy Lube for 3.5 years, then decided that I wanted to get my hands even more dirty and do actual repairs, so I went to UTI. So far only worked for Toyota for the past 3 years. Right now im at a union dealership working as a semi-skilled technician. Got my A1-A8 ase’s as well as the L1, and Toyota Expert certified. Love watching eric’s videos and chatting on the forums helping others and just talking about everyday life.

I second woodbaron. Not only you have to sufffer with your schedule, but your wife has to quit, which will bring down the incme even more. Time to grease the wheels under your box and get a tow truck ready.
Typical of the exhaust nuts Toyota uses, they don’t like to go back on, they are considered one time use for a reason. Dumb dumb design. Maxlife is spec’d for Toyota WS, it’s a good fluid, although there are better out there if you’re willing to pay for them. Personally if that was my vehicle I would put in Royal Purple ATF, it’s not cheap but considering the pain in the neck job it is to swap out the fluid, may as well spend the extra cash. It’s about $10-12/quart BTW.
What is the total capacity of the transmission? A full flush would be better, done by accessing the tranny cooler lines, although I don’t know exactly how one would go about making sure the transmission is being filled with fluid as the old stuff is being pumped out. I always use the dipstick tube for that, without out it could be an issue.
Don’t ask me why auto makers are removing dipsticks, it makes no sense to me except they are trying to prevent the average guy from doing his own maintenance.
I probably would not recommend doing a flush at 150k miles.
