Thanks to all who sent in replies, I took the car into the Peugeot Dealership today and the technician tells me (after having a listen) that this model tends to do this. The Variable Valve Timing mechanism has to refill with oil when the engine starts, with synthetic 5w30 it is VERY slippery when hot so tends to drain right away from the components. For some reason it doesn’t rattle from cold, only when left for an hour and then restarted. Anyway I have it in writing that it is normal on this model. The cam-belt was changed last year so that’s all fine as well.

Thanks will do, it does have the correct oil in it now and I suspect it has done throughout most of its life as it has been serviced by the franchise dealer. I think I will have them (the franchise agent)check it out as it is still under the dealer warranty (100 days) and they (2nd hand seller) are happy for me to do this. Will try to post a video in the next couple of days.
