Thanks, I’ll give that a try when I get the chance. I don’t get any noticeable vibrations at speeds or noise while turning. I do have a slightly loose tie-rod on the left but I doubt that it’s what’s making the noise especially since I don’t hear it while jerking the wheel side to side. I also have a broken stabilizer link but I know exactly what that sounds like by now.

I’m starting to think that the noise is coming from the clutch pedal or master cylinder acting up in the cold weather.

Well, I just re-tightened all the lug nuts. It’s still making that sound and it’s almost like I can feel it through the clutch pedal (usually when I am engaging it) but it disappears after driving for a few minutes; I guess after the car warms up a bit. It’s below freezing outside now.

I only notice it when accelerating from a stop; it doesn’t sound like it happens when using the clutch while stopped or while driving and shifting. Sometimes I feel like I can hear it from behind me also. Maybe the suspension is frozen stiff?

Weird how it only started happening after I changed my tires.

If you have some sort of Idle air control and it is sticking, that might be the problem too, along with TPS sensor going bad. I noticed that my car occasionally does the same thing when taking off. If the idle goes a bit too low, the IAC tries to compensate and goes too far and causes a bit of a jerk.

Maybe your transmission is a bit loose or not mounted properly.
Why does Honda continually have transmission problems?

                    Both with automatic and manual.

Does Honda outsource it’s transmission design and build to low quality organization?

I just don’t understand why quality eludes Honda is the transmission department!
What problems do the manual trannys suffer from?

                        Hi Eric,

                        Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you’re right about the salt on the roads, however, they might have changed that recently where I live.

The rust on the passenger side is noticeably worse than on the driver’s side. After I noticed the rust, I did some searching online and found that it was a common problem for this generation of Accord and that it was strongly believed to be due to the placement of the A/C drain hose.

Also, last year the Center for Auto Safety had requested that Honda issue a major recall on these cars, which is why I brought it up (It probably won’t happen like you said).

Anyways, I started poking at it with a screwdriver; the top part started flaking off and the bottom part was covered in a bunch of rusted metal powder. Below the powder the metal seemed to be pretty solid from the feel and the knocking sound. I wasn’t able to reach and clean up the powder but I sprayed the whole area with a bunch of rust inhibiting spray and hopefully that will keep it lasting as long as possible.

I think anyone with this generation of Accord should have that drain hose extended and re-routed, as suggested above, as a preventative measure.

Well, I never use AC and it doesn’t even work anymore, so I won’t bother with the hose. This happened while the previous owners had the car.

I’ll try checking the subframe by poking it like suggested above. Thanks.

Yeah, I read those threads but still couldn’t really figure it out.

What do you mean by stumble?
Mine kinda does something similar to this when I unplug the IACV (after 50s mark):
                                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEbsgLrLEwk

I guess i’ll keep trying different things until I get it.
