I think we have blue or red antifreeze coolant here. One is for cast iron blocks and the other for aluminium blocks.

Doesn’t sound entirely unfamiliar. My former VW Passat had the same, or well not a vibration as such but I could effectively feel that the car was in gear as in Drive, as opposed to flicking it into Park or Neutral. I could hear the engine tone changing and feel a very very faint vibration.

Grind the paint down, cut the panel off and get a replacement panel would be best solution, unless you want to fix it on the cheap?

I think most of those shows aren’t actually real or true to the point. ie that they should be taken with a grain of salt like most shows.

Much the same reason shows like Operation Repo, South Beach Towing, Lizard lick etc are also rather staged and not true to the profession or job. If the shows portrayed the real deal and what actually happened most people wouldn’t give a damn and the shows would get cancelled for bad ratings.

Much the same reason I get my repofix from a regular on my youtube watchlist, much the same I get my carfixing fix from watching ETCG ๐Ÿ˜›
Also manufacturers cheat with all kinds of interesting tricks to get EPA ratings that have nothing to do with the actual MPG.

                    More information here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/mar/14/car-manufacturers-manipulating-fuel-efficiency-tests%5B/quote%5D

A popular consumer show here in Denmark called the car makers out on that particular remark. ie that their MPG ratings was overinflated as opposed to what people could reasonably expect from the cars. BUT here getting a car with a low MPG even if you can’t achieve it, isn’t a total loss since a high MPG means its cheaper to tax each year.
what truck drivers do in town because engie brakes are too loud
Yes and No. Even regular passenger cars can do engine braking, otherwise known as compression braking. The difference between engine braking in a regular car versus a trucker employed a Jacobs Brake aka Jake Brake, is that in the regular car the compression “pressure” doesn’t get vented out into the air but basically the engine works like a massive pump that acts as a brake.

Where as the Jake Brake, vents the pressure out into the air, thus creating the massive noise that is often frowned upon. BUT at the same time that procedure makes the engine braking a lot more effective, and thus works wonders to at least slowing truckers down considerately.

In Europe where I live, we are not really that big on Jake Brakes and install install retarders in our trucks which more or less has the same effect as the jake brake, but without all the noise. And these days the retarders are so “clever” that they actually work as a generator while the truck/car is being slowing etc.

If you really want to look into this then KERS is a nice keyword. Kinetic Energy Recovery System, which is basically a piece of the driveline that accumulates “force” as the car is slowing/braking, but feeds that power back to the driveline as you hit the accelerator coming off the line. And basically giving your car a nice free boost up to speed.
