Gearbox whining is usually syncros gone bad of some of the gears inside the transmission having “lost” bits of their teeths etc. ie stuff that makes it “harder” for the transmission to achieve a full and perfect contact between each gear leading to more noise.
Because sometimes replacing a complete part is like fishing with dynamite. If the panel has a minor ding, scratch etc its is usually more affordable to sand the scratch down, or use filler to level it out with the rest of the panel and then base it and paint it to the cars colour opposed to forking up and arm and a leg for a full panel painted to match

Honestly I would say that tires can’t stand alone as important purchases for a car. Because good tires won’t really do much better if your suspension is shot, or your brakes are bad. Same as good brakes won’t help with bad tires or suspension, or good suspension with bad tires and brakes.
Suspension/tires and brakes are the 3 most important things to keep in order since those 3 single things determines how much grip, stopping power etc you will have in any given situation.

September 6, 2013 at 12:20 am in reply to: Shifting into reverse with the car moving oh man! #542629I know our police has wrecked several automatic transmissions thats way. But the last couple of cars I have driven with automatics has allowed me to switch the auto into reverse as I was going forwards, but didn’t actually physically switch till I was stationary.

If the exhaust pressure is down, then you will also most likely suffer bad turbo performance as it is the exhaust gasses that is effectively driving the turbo etc.

I have never bothered with insurance the 3 times I was abroad and rented a car.

With money being tight on people, people tend to opt for the backyard mechanic as opposed to taking it to the dealer which generally are more expensive. Less customers through the door equals less money in the wallet and they most likely and eventually go bust.

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. I honestly don’t think that product will work outside of a placebo effect to be honest. Only way to get more power/higher octane fuel without selecting it on pump is to add additives that enhances/reduces the combustability etc. And whether thoes additives actually does as claimed in a real world environment…. well I won’t buy it.
