i’m a car detailer, and in my line of work we have to clean the whole engine bay/engine before the car goes onto the car yard for sale.
in the time i have been doing this, all i have used is a general purpose degreaser and a high pressure washer, (gernie). i have never had an issue with any electrical parts or sealing problems, i say wash the engine, its designed to hold water inside it, and water splashes on the motor when it rains from the bottom of the car, its going to get water on it if you clean it yourself or not, give it a go…

i have a feeling its the converter pump ._x000D_
its strange that the it has such low miles and is already have problems! oh well, i suppose ill drive it until the transmission fails and then replace it!

it didnt have the sound when i brought the car, its slowly came on and gotten worse…_x000D_

the noise does go away when at operating temperature, but the sound is apparent sometimes when at high rpm changing gears._x000D_

i serviced it today, changed the filter and the oil, the oil didnt smell burnt but it was very dark._x000D_
my girlfriend tells me she thinks its more of a whining noise, its most apparent when changing gears when ice cold and progressively goes away as the car

if i have my foot on the brake, and go from first gear to drive it grinds going through all gears and then grinds worse when putting it in reverse,

the fluid was dark red, it looked quite dirty, im not sure if it has been serviced before, ive only owned the car for 6 months.._x000D_

there are no service lights on at all.

getting the new intake manifold in the next week or so. so in the mean time i shall start sanding and preparing the body work of the car! 🙂

sorry it took so long for the reply, but heres the problem!

NorthEast, you’re completely correct with everything you said in your post. it is the 3800 motor with the plastic cover. i will surely replace anything i can before i put the engine back together.
this is the photo of the enginebay, just incase that gives you anymore hints, i can also upload a photo of the car if you like 🙂

im not sure if i explained clearly but theres actually a hole leaking out from metal under the intake itself, its REALLY pouring out, i can actually watch it sperting out. im really new to the forum but can i upload a photo and show you?
