Engine noise is always cause for concern. If it were me, I’d want them to replace it. Loose parts in a new engine isn’t a good sign. Honestly, without tearing the thing open you won’t know what the issue is, but that would violate the warranty I”m sure. We can only guess what’s causing it. I’d recommend you take it back to where the work was done to see what you can work out.
Good luck and keep us updated.
I would like to take the time to inform you guys that it as indeed not a lifter. Ticking was caused due to a defective connecting rod and or wrist pin. Shop fixed free of charge. Sorry for the long wait time.

Definitely not having the ticking due to gunk. They just put the engine in on the 18th. I still d9nt have it back. They’re looking at it still
Ticking does not change with temperature, don’t think it’s a lifter because of it having the same ticking noise (so they said, I don’t know I haven’t gotten the jeep back yet) now that they put a totally different engine in
I’m going to speak with the installer Monday (11:52 pm right now) so hopefully I can get to the bottom of it and hear it for myself. The vehicle is 3 hours away so I can’t really see it right now. I don’t think it’s arcing either. As for manifold leak, not really convinced being that it’s heard towards the front of the transmission.Yeap did what you suggested and they replaced the engine free of charge. Luckily before they took it back to me, they heard the same tick. Could this be flex plate related? Loose bolts, etc? They told me they are doing tests on Monday to figure out what it is but I’d like to hear some opinions so I can throw them a bone
Correction: the Chrysler 3.7 does in fact have lifters
Also it is an entirely different engine than the one that blew.
Believe it or not, that’s the first place I went to.
Bump***. Anyone know what the sound was?
Statistically speaking, rings don’t break in until about 1000-1500 miles. Does not consume oil. Just on first start up it smokes from the exhaust from the oil. Here’s the video
They’re coming to get it this week. Fixing at no charge. If you know what it is (even if you have a clue) please post below as others may have the same issue some day and come across this post
Engine runs fine. Power output is great. Exhaust sounds throaty. This engine does indeed have lifters. Different design but it does the same job. I’m uploading a video right now. I’ll post a link when it finalizes
Job was done in July if my memory serves me correct. Im pissed because most of the engine, interior, and paint are new now it just sits there looking pretty and no where to go. Taking it to a family friend who owns an actual shop this time.
EDIT: If im wrong and it wasnt the chain, what if a lifter/lifter failed? What would that cause?
Took it to the mechanic who did the work said it was just a lifter not to worry about it. Drove it to work (just now got home) at 1020 pm. Got about 2 miles down the e-way and it starting “jumping” and went back to normal. Quarter mile down the road couldnt rev past 2k and lost power. Pulled to the side of the road had my grandpa tow me home. Said it sounds like it jumped timing. I tried starting it before and it popped loud and smoke came from the engine. If this 3.7 jumped timing or a tensioner/chain/sprocket broke, what damage could each of these cause?
I just had all that replaced
Sound after oil change
Okay flushed the engine. Valvoline full synthetic Bosch oil filter little bit of marvel muster oil and nothing. Same fucking noise
