Hey Eric, I really enjoy both your channels, thank you for creating them.

When changing coolant, should I also change other components, like the coolant temp sensor?

The best thing you can do is replace the fluid with OEM fluid every 30k miles. I had a Nissan Altima with CVT , never had problems , but traded it to my dealer for an Altima with a 6 speed manual. Love it.

I use rhinoramps. Just drive your car up on to them. No jack needed.
Honda’s are ok, but people tend to beat the crap out of them. Same with Toyota, Nissan, et. al. As far as makes to stay away from I’d stay away from Anything that’s no longer made (Saturn, Scion, etc). The best advice I could give you is to make sure you check everything before buying a car.

Look at the motor, are there any leaks or broken parts?
Look at the suspension and frame especially if you live in an area where frame rot is a concern.
Look at the Tires. Do they have any unusual wear?
Take it for a test drive. Any noise or vibration that feel out of the ordinary?
Also check the fluids. Beware if any of the fluids are black or smell burnt.

Mostly just take your time when making a decision and avoid buying a money-pit/klunker.
on your scion comment. Scion is toyota, so generally reliable.

Nissans have been good to me. Owned 3. Great engines. Very reliable. Not a fan of the CVT transmission though, I recommend getting one with a manual transmission . I love my 6 speed Altima

I had an Altima with a CVT. It ran smooth. Great car. But I don’t like how CVTs hold the revs (no shifts) . I ended up trading it in for an Altima with a 6 speed manual which I love. Can’t speak for Honda CVTs. Test drive one see how u like it. I’d get a manual. Lol

Hi Eric. I tend to rev to about 4k RPM between shifts for quick acceleration. Redline is at 6k. Am I wearing out my engine more than if I were to shift at 2500-3000 rpm? Is it only bad if you’re hitting redline? I Plan to have my car for many miles and don’t want to kill the engine. I’m very good on maintenance. 2009 Nissan Altima 6 speed manual 90k miles.

Thanks, loved the Sentra SE-R series. Big Nissan fan

Hi Eric, In winter, Is it better to just wait one minute after starting your car, then drive off slowly, or should you let it warm up longer like 5-10 minutes. I heard it is bad to warm up your car at idle in cold weather because it takes a long time to get up to operating temp and the gasoline strips the pistons of oil, causing unnecessary wear.

Thanks, love your show
