They never ask about a wheel lock key!!!! Ive spent 20 minutes looking for a key, called the customer, just to realize that the key is not even in the car, or it is in some ridiculous spot that makes absolutely no %$#$#% sense.

you know.. wheel locks, in general, just piss me off

we get paid .2 for state inspection here (texas). I can get most done in ten minutes, but the problem is, like everyone says, very rarely do they buy anything that is recommended. all they care about is that sticker

service writers and service managers that sit around playing on the computer all day, then when they decide to wander into the shop, they say “You about done with that?” or “Are we going to have the Lexus out today?”

service writers that forget to order your parts..

            waiting on parts

ANY waiter of any sort, especially LOF

            BS AllData times

Re-checks from techs that don’t work there anymore

when customers take 2 weeks to come pay for the work, so you have to wait to get paid

RO hogs – they’ve already got more work than they can handle, yet they still take the next RO in the box

wrong parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF stupid ass parts guys

aftermarket cheap parts, that just dont seem to fit the same

            Volkswagens

            Cheap, or broken shop equipment

Free diagnostic because “well we are already going to be in there anyway..”

the waiters are the worst. Having to stop what you’re are doing for a .3-.6 flag. and then not finishing you’re original RO before pay cycle ends

                        LOL

He is right. It’s hard to get the experience when no one will hire you, but pep boys, goodyear, NTB, sears, etc are good places to start. the pay is bad, but you can rack up a lot of experience quickly. And the ASE tests help a lot. employers want experience but if they see you are motivated, and taking ASE tests, they are more likely to give you a chance.

hope you have your receipt, they dont like to warranty them without the receipt. it’s usually best to buy from an autoparts store that takes your phone number and name and tracks your warranty that way. good luck!!

i think that something eric said in the video was pretty accurate. when he said that they kind of just break even on the labor…maybe that’s not true everywhere, but…

I looked into opening my own shop awhile back, and it is crazy expensive to run a shop. rent, insurance, uniforms, waste oil pickup, office supplies, electricity, cleaning stuff, specialty shop tools, labor cost of course, training for techs, taxes and unemployment fees, and all the other little things that you might not even think about…

some chain type shops have to pay royalty fees too, if they’re a franchise.

One place I looked at was 6000 per month to lease, and 5000 per month in royalties, regardless of your net sales!!! insane!
