OK thanks. I was looking for a cheap fix. Not sure if the junkyard transmissions are any good and couldn’t afford a rebuilt one from Ford. It’s for a Ford Ranger 4.0. With 4 wheel drive. I don’t think I’ll be able to get it done myself. I’ll have to call the school to see what they think. maybe end up going to a junkyard and hope I get a good one.
 OMG OUT LOUD! This thing happened to a friend of mine in the early 80’s! He thought the trans fluid was interchangeable with brake fluid…. instead of power steering fluid. Brought his pinto to me and said the brakes don’t work too good. We tried to bleed them with no success…. ended up cutting off the rear brake lines and crimping them, as the front brakes were not affected. LOL! The brakes were like nothing was getting through. Had to really stomp on the pedal to get any brake action! Luckily the front brakes were good. Had no money so couldn’t get them fixed proper.

I like the full synthetic. In the middle of winter in Minnesota, my car turns over like it’s summer. Since I can get Mobil 1 real cheap at Walmart, I change it myself and the total cost for my oil change is around $35. I put alot of miles on a Lumina with synthetic. Currently it’s at 278,000. It also makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

It’s a 1999. They said the motor will have to be removed to replace the gasket. I’ll attach a picture of it. It doesn’t seem to leak much at all, but after seeing how far it’s out, I won’t be surprised if it leaks alot. I haven’t had much opportunity to drive it since I got it. First the brake master cylinder went. Then the clutch release bearing went. I now see this and just want it all fixed. I only have 1 day a week to work on it. and winter’s coming fast.

I think it boils down to personal choice. All seem to have the same lifetime guarantee.
I just love the way they fit the fastener, the way it feels in my hand, the shining promise of success I see every time I open my tool chest….. ooops. gotta’ go.:cheer:I really like SnapOn.
