I AM noticing a higher amount of air flowing so yeah, and this might solve my window fog problem as my new Impala loves to fog up the windshield, but my Regal didnt. All that dirt was probably trapping moisture and when I start running air through it, well, yeah.
I don’t trust a shop to do oil changes on my Impala. I saw a video on YouTube that a shop changed the oil on a Impala not unlike my own and once they started it the engine blew up! No lie!
I’ve seen the video too, but its not their fault as a faulty FPR can cause gas vapors to accumulate in the Upper Intake Manifold and then it backfired which the plastic couldn’t contain.
No, the stories of seized engines is the one that you guys need to worry about, or destroyed transmissions, or shops not doing the work you were charged for.

Having worked for Advance for 4 years I tend to head there first as 99% of the time the prices are the same. But more importantly, who do I trust?
For a DIY’er you need one thing out of your parts store. Someone behind that counter who knows a thing or two about cars. I will go 30 minutes away to a store 20 miles away than deal with the one not 5 minutes away. And it all has to do with trust. Many of the guys at the store further away know I worked in their system so it can make finding my part easier and the correct part the first time. The other? not even willing to pull up the routing diagram for my acc belt.
If I need a hard to find part, such as an oil dipstick and I have a Dorman Part number, I’ll call up the store further away, cause at least if the guy picking up the phone has no clue what it is he’s looking for, he’ll give the phone to someone who does.

Chances are the rotor DID hit the ground, I had the same thing happen on my 98 Regal. It had a warped rotor, pretty bad actually. Chances are you’ll have a similar problem.

I dont believe this…. I just talked to the dealer last week about this recall on the 3800s and the fire issue, they said it didnt affect my car cause it wasn’t for all 3800s. Yeah right. Something tells me I need to call up a few other dealers.

if you are unsure of what you have, pull a rear tire off, there you go. Yes, they did come with either or that year. Its entirely possibly you have shoes, but another guy with a 2001 has rotors.

I have an 05 impala, and somehow the system was bypassed, I’m not sure how as it was like that when I got the car. It’s possible, but I am unsure as to the “how” part.

ukrkoz, the car is an 05 Impala, 157K miles, ex-police, The car works fine, just minor issues that I want to address and not let this car go like my Regal did when it had 10 problems on top of the head gasket.
when I say the transmission pan gasket leaks, its more a light, thin coat of oil around the gasket. no actual drops. And lets face it, no idea when the fluid and filter were changed so I should look into doing that.
Around here, people love impalas, especially with certian groups. But the door locks works 😉
barneyb, this is actually not a simple job, as one of the caliper bolts on the right rear was rounded, sounds like I could use a Go-2 Socket :S Wasn’t me, I only found out about it trying to figure out why the parking brake isnt working.
DrD, when I say masking I mean the MIL turns on if there is 1 code or 10, so I could have a more serious problem later on and no idea until the engine craps out. Yes, it is throwing a code P0420, aannnd the downstream O2 is acting much like the upstream, just lagging a bit.
Otherwise, aside from the engine moving because of the stock torque struts and the other very minor problems (speakers… ugh) the car runs GREAT. It’s way better than my regal, even when I just got that car (dead digital odometer)
