The reason is because Uncle Sam is pressuring the automobile manufacturers to produce better fuel efficiency. Just ask Volkswagon. You used to have to use a donut spare, and now your lucky to even get one.
I am not an expert on this,,just started tech school. But I beleive there is a diode in the circuit that could fail pushing up to 400 volts, If all the relays and and the High and Low pressure switches are good. I think I would look for that diode.

I would keep it.If you are used to having a truck around and you go to a car you will surely miss it.Besides, it will give you something to wrench on! Keep it as a project, if nothing else.

Its also really a pain cleaning melted sneakers off of those chrome pipes. Ever since I had a wasp fly in to my full-face helmet at Freeway speeds I’ve preferred an open face , plus I’m a little claustrophobic.
