      Hey Eric
My scan tool freeze frame when the 0130 pops always says the voltage is low, as low as 10. So with some resistance somewhere the O2 is getting 8.

I have the $185 new alternator in the back seat. When I check the (new) battery, engine off, I get 11. Engine on, scan live data is 13.9. Can a alternator fail like that? I would think not. Especially in this case it’s so consistent.

I talked to the Bosch tech about the 5 wire sensor and he said it can’t really be bench tested like a 1 or 3 wire. Can test the heater circuit is all. So since I tried checking it I may have ruined it.

He explained the wiring – way over my head. Something like pump circuits and constant voltage….

Thanks so much for your help, pretty amazing you have time for all this.

I checked the 5 wire front O2 100% continuity for heater, with car up to temp I get 8 volts to what I thought was the O2 wire. Also the delivery voltage to the heater is only 8 volts. I’m figuring I have the wrong wire to check the O2 output.

What’s a good scanner tool to buy? I wouldn’t mind spending a few hundred on one.

          thanks

Thanks so much Eric – I am totally new at this forum stuff I just didn’t know If I was doing it correctly. This is a great service and I hope to be able to figure out my issue(s).

I will go over it all and make sure all is reinstalled/plugged in etc. correctly.

I will now be patient. I also will buy a scan tool.

              Thanks again.

so what am I supposed to do? I asked the question: does anybody know how to test a 5 wire bosch front O2 sensor. There must be some thing wrong with me I don’t get this site

Thanks lots of good info but I’ve been through most of that stuff – I don’t have my own reader so when I use the O Reilly’s it gives me p0130 and since I just put in a new front O2 sensor I would like to try and test it. Or the old one. But it’s a 5 wire thing with a connector that I think has a fuse in it. Anyone know how I can test the heater circuit etc.?? I can’t find it online.

I’m going to try the “Cataclean” product as their obd reader flashes the cat and eva icons when I read the code. Next time I’m going to write down all the data.

The car runs absolutely perfect, I just hate having that light on and some potential issue
