Does the speedometer work?
Ohm out the wires, something in line is shorting out. Look for melted wires near the exhaust manifolds
Google knows everything
http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t2375_ds42137As long as there is no flexing of the solid line and is away from the exhaust you should be OK. The only other worry is rocks piercing the line.
Agreed with nightflyr. It’s a dud
Sounds like you got it fixed.
I bolt trans to engine first. If you bolt torque converter first you risk the tranny still being able to move and the torque converter being pulled out of its home spot in the tranny. That’s my opinion.
You should test on amperage mode. Be aware most meters are only good for 10 amps. Your looking for current draw.
They are not that hard to replace. But they are usually spot welded in. You can see those by looking for the little weld divots. It generally involves drilling the weld through one layer only. But if you have never touched a welder it is best to take it in as you never know if there is any stress which could make alignment of the new one challenging.
Some things you don’t used and better off buying new.Fuel pumps, water pumps and some exhaust manifolds and window regulators are few examples of this..Some auto body parts, buy new since they are cheaper to buy than used.Have one junkyard in my area, they put tags on used engines and transmissions saying this: should be good and they are not highly recommended place to buy used engines from.My dad learned this, went through 6 engines for one car from this junkyard which were all bad.
Lots of vehicles are at the wreckers due to bad engines/transmissions.
It’s been so long. Not even sure they made it in 98. But it was the shape of the drain pan or bolt count.
http://www.fordification.com/tech/images/Ford-transID08.gifIs that the (I think) al5d or something like that? If so, ya that’s normal. I’ve found it to be a thrust washer on the high reverse pack. It’s been awhile though
Not good to run an engine without oil, especially just after it was apart and been sitting. Even if just for a few seconds. That few seconds is enough time to recoat everything with oil.
The post above me won’t work on torx bits, but maybe a air chisel with appropriate bit to dig in and turn it?
Does the engine turn my hand?
