Thanks for the tips. If there are no hidden bolts like in Eric’s video it sounds like something I can attempt. I think At the risk of sounding male chauvinist I think I will postpone this job until I hear it myself. Should I buy oe Honda or go with a rebuilt? How about having the electrical shop rebuild original?
Thanks

shadetreeIt’s been awhile since I’ve been dirty or visited the site but I would like to give an update on this issue. I had to take it to an electrical specialist and he diagnosed and fixed the problem. The 92 which I have must have had a 91 wire harness. The alternator plug looked and was shaped the same but the wires did totally different things. Once he replaced the alternator with the right one it has been fine. Thanks again.

[quote=”shadetree 59″ post=58665]I’m back to my project and was reading on line that the plug that goes into the alternator should have all three wires hot with the key on. This information was for a 89 model. Is it the same for my 92? I might be on to something. I only have two of the three hot with key on.
Thanks

ShadetreeThanks for the feedback. I had the system checked at AutoZone and alternator is not charging. Counter person there said that this vintage of Toyota trucks commonly have a broken wire where it turns sharply at the plug connection to alternator. It will sit till the weekend and then the fun starts. Thanks again.

I have some additional symptoms on this egr project. I am losing coolant out of my radiator overflow. The other day I had a real slow crank when starting. Sounded almost like
It leaks while driving.
Thanks for the quick reply dreamer. My neighbor has a vacuum and will borrow it to check this out._x000D_
