“With the car running apply vacuum to the egr does the car
stall or stumble?”OK, I applied vacuum to the EGR valve (at Idle) and at operating temputare and I did NOT notice any difference in how the engine ran it did not stumble or stall same RPM, it does how ever hold pressure and I know the diaphragm is not punctured or has any leaks in it…
Is that normal?

Is there another way to test it? I seriously don’t have the type of stuff to heat motor oil up with….

Ok…Check engine light came back on, so I did some checks today… VSV- Vacuum Switching Valve, Vacuum Modular, Tested Egr Valve with hand pump and all are fine.
I have not yet tested the EGR Gas Temp. Sensor, is there anyway to test that?
Also what are some other things to test?

OK, it does have a manual choke on the Holley but will have to get a wire that goes from the carb to the under dash in the cab.
Also, does the wire have to be 100% even from carb to dash after I drill through the firewall? I’ve never done a choke before and want to do it right.
Thanks.

I did buy a Holley Renew kit a few months ago so I will use the base gasket out of that.
Also, if the carb is in fact warped how much would a machine shop normally charge to use their Straight Edge on it, I really don’t want to fork out $75 for one.

What about Holley carbs?

OK, I’m trying it now. Are you supposed to block and seal the top of the carburetor when doing it this way to create an air tight seal in the engine?
Also, I have used the starting fluid method in the past to find vacuum leaks, but don’t really feel comfortable doing it like that, so I’m trying the smoke way.
it’s an old chevy 350 with a Holley carb btw.
Thanks.
