I agree with everything that’s been posted so far. I believe those maintenance reminders also take driving habits into account. Also I agree that if you wan’t to change the oil, go ahead and change it. It really can’t hurt. Just be sure to reset the reminder when you do. To be honest, I don’t know how to do that on that vehicle. Perhaps someone on the forum can offer up that information.
reset oil life procedure: with key on engine off and oil life % on the display you push the gas pedal all the way down to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds. Chevy hasn’t changed much in that respect.

Since I can’t see it its hard to condemn the tranny dispite all signs pointing to it. Since he’s stating he thinks it may be an axle I was stating an easy way to check them.

I would make it very clear that you appreciate the business he has sent you, but you decide who pays and how much. That’s just flat out being taken advantage of. Always hold the keys till you get FULL payment and have an agreed amount before you start repairs.
I’ve always heard that if you get two tires of different sizes on the rear, or front that it effects your speedometer, Is this true Eric? Thanks.
yes it does effect it. In fact some newer trucks it will cause the check engine light to come on cause the speed sensor picks up readings above or below tolerance

first of all its your car. If you want to change it before 15% that’s perfectly fine. As long as you are using the correct oil and you aren’t going over what Chevy says.
one thing I would ask is if its suppose to take dexos-1 or dexos-2. Dexos 2 requires a full synthetic and those are usually set for 7-10,000 miles per oil change interval.
