January 26, 2018 at 10:29 am in reply to: MOTOR OIL IN RADIATOR AND COOLANT IN MOTOR OIL FILL TANK AND CAP #885881
Wow lovely.I read that also that it was internal but when looking at the front it looks like their is one on the outside right in front of the radiator and just a little bit smaller than the radiator. Too late to go out and take pics. will do tomorrow.
My next questions:
1. You’re saying headgasket because the same fluid is in the oil tank?
2. how does oil get in the radiator, motor oil?
3.how difficult and time consuming is it to replace headgasket? can i do myself?
4. can a stop leak formula be okay if replacing the headgasket is not doable? i bout a bottle of Bars head gasket at pepboys the other day. I think it was $25.
FYI, the FSM can be found here:

Thank you. I have the repair manual already but it does not have the information I’m looking for..
You do not state the engine type but…
Here is the standard firing order for the V6
Hmm. Another diagram showed number 1 being in your number 6 spot on your diagram…
It’s a 1999 Pathfinder SE 3.3 v6.Now when I use the gun without a display, I’m just getting the number by visually looking at it, so it’s just an approximate, correct?
And is it suppose to be pretty jumpy. Like kind of shaking around from 10 -13 for example or is suppose to be still? It did, I think? I ended up getting a belt that fits the alternator pully but is one groove short on that middle pulley because I could not get the one off of the old alt to swap. I work from home so I do not drive alot. I hope this is okay. What do you think? I’ve been checking it and everything looks fine.
With that and a new yellow top, I’ve had no issues at all starting this car.
Thanks again
Finished the job and forgot to thank you for all your help!
So glad I can leave the ac one off. You have no idea. Thank you.
Got the belt today
Lol i even forgot I took pictures of it! Thanks for reminding me
my air conditioner doesn’t even work. the very top one is for the air conditioner right? can i just disregard it for now?
Is this the correct one for one of them?

Attachments:on one start up the nut flew off one pulley. second start up the bad alternator belt part of it broke and wrapped around behind the fan clutch and maybe knocked the other belt off, because i don’t know how else it got off. i had it tight. thought i would have got it in the mail already but haven’t. i’m just going to buy new pulleys with the whole assembly. so the 2 that i removed that you can adjust tension, what exactly are they called? i see all kinds of names and i don’t want to buy the wrong ones.
actually that nut flew off twice. i don’t know what the heck is going on
You really need to pay close attention when taking thing apart.
I can only guess at this.Easiest way to tell is this pulley has to align with the main crank pulley.
If you mount it wrong the 2 pulleys will not line up.
I know and I do. Problem is I look at it and think “I’ll remember that, that’s not hard to remember” and then i forget. Short term memory loss. That’s why I say I need to take pictures.
Thanks I will look and see if i have it right. see i ended up with only one of the black pieces that’s on the left so one didn’t have one.
and whats the order for these? and is there somethin missing? i ended up with uneven amounts of parts for the 2 pulleys so i don’t know…
this side faces the pulley right?
and this side faces out?
which way do i put this on?
cool. that clears that ? in my head.
please explain the space thing again. i’m not grasping it. i’m kind of a visual learner and sometimes things are hard for me to comprehend when reading.
easier? omg it seems like more work taking it off and then putting it back on. i’m thinking it an alighment issue. i probably didn’t assemble the 2 pulleys i took off correctly. i mixed the parts up. i took some pics of it yesterday let me see if i can find them
