mot a huge mechanic myself but maybe got some ideas to throw at you. how is it stalling, possible over heating ? just because they said they topped off the coolant doesnt mean squat unless they have burped the system properly so that the coolant is truly running through the system without airbubbles. if thats good, maybe your thermostat needs to be replaced, super cheap. notice your fan kicking on way too soon or anything with overheating symptoms. second, like the last guy said, possible bad ignition module. but i still dont see how a missfire could completely kill the power. again you haven’t described how it dies on you. maybe a bad ground, or simply a battery going out. again i honestly have no experience on that car in particular, but i hope these suggestions help you get back on the road. since your doing delivery, my guess might be on the cooling system..
November 2, 2018 at 11:25 pm in reply to: 1983 honda accord 1.8 hondamatic (AC idle adjustment) ??? #891311i gave it shot, and it sure held vacume. so i back traced it as you said and believe it or not it had a blocked line up by the fire wall where it routes to. including that little back round unit with a positive red wire ( not sure what that even does) but that too was blocked off by corrosion when i removed the cap. and sure enough i was able to adjust the ac idle screw up and down now ! wanted to run the ac idle up about 300 rpms from the idle to compensate for load when headlights, compressor was on at night. now it sits right where it should be and all is well.
i got a few other questions regarding carb settings but i believe i need to start a new thread. thankyou so much for your insight, it really helped out diagnosing the issue ! @evil-i
quick question on that reply about adjusting the ac idle. thats what im having the world in frustration.
i believe its the one next to the accelerator pump. but mine is vacum operated, it doesnt have the adjustment screw on top the unit ????
i have seen them on other models but i cant seem to figure out how to increase ac idle speed.. please help ! -
