Problem located. The harness where the injectors and the map sensor (which is under the intake) all join the main wiring harness was melted through. This is apparently common on these vans. The result was when the map sensor was plugged in one of the injectors grounded out and stayed on full time. As a result fuel seeped into the oil pan.
The wiring all looked good so I bit the bullet and replaced the MAP sensor. The rough idle is still there, the white smoke is now black. Some new things, the alternator light has come on, the fans come on even when the engine is cold. I still have the P0108 code and a new code P1598 for high AC pressure, even though the AC is off.
My new thoughts are bad ground or bad PCM.
Thanks, I might just try a new MAP sensor and go from there. I’m willing to spend the $65 since it is pointing to that. And if that could be the whole cause I’ll give it a go.

The corporate world has more lawyers which pretty much explains everything. And I guess if you have one shop your chances of having an issue are smaller than if you have 50.

Insurance companies seem to want shops to put up signs. That said, many will take you out on the shop floor. Though it gives them a great excuse to prevent people from entering the shop who are annoying.
I just had a discussion with the site admin about the password boxes, to make a short story even shorter the admin prefers it that way.

Usually when passwords are shown in clear text it is in place of having a “confirm password” box. Having clear text passwords and a confirm box is kind of strange.
