Personally, I would just drain and refill and not bother flushing with water unless there’s a rouge brand of coolant in your system. Follow the procedure for draining (radiator, res, and engine block if there’s a plug) and refill with Honda coolant. Eric has an awesome how-to on bleeding the cooling system and he uses a no spill funnel which looks like a great way to get all the air out the system. I have never used one, but it’s something on my wish list 🙂

you could always drain it again in a few weeks if you are concerned with “flushing” – but it may not be necessary.

were they thumping before you installed the new drums and shoes?
if not, i would double check the work and make sure they are adjusted correctly.

a while back – my ’99 Jeep Cherokee stumbled when idling and stalled at random times…the check engine light was never on and no codes were stored. after doing all my own troubleshooting and leaving it with my mechanic for a few days, we couldn’t figure out what was causing the issue. it even stumped my mechanic. since he didn

i had the same problem about a year ago. turns out it was just a busted o-ring on the hose going going from the reservoir to the pump and air was getting into the system from there. repair cost me around $3 not including the new fluid. if you don’t mind losing some fluid and then adding/bleeding again, it might be a good place to start.

that sounds like a great place to start. Where did you get your new o-ring?

i got the o-rings directly from the dealer.
i have also used this site for honda parts – http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/

                  good luck!
