Its ok to drive. The spring supports the car not the shock.
What type of shocks are you using?
That’s a good question… It’s more than likely the cheapest Napa had is what was bought by the shop that installed them. If I had to take a guess…
I wanted to make 100% sure there wasn’t a safety hazard of leaving this alone until I can save the money. Either that, or talk to the claims rep of the insurance company… I’m almost certain the issue was cause by being sideswiped and an “unnatural force” was put on the shock resulting in this issue.

Try them now… my apologies, default setting.
The right does have a different sound. The spring is not touching
the shock? If everything is tight which it seems to be. I would replace
both shocks.
That’s what I was afraid of… I’m gonna call the insurance company and see what they can do. It’s $300 per shock, $500 for the pair and I spent $700 last October on all 4. Sucks majorly.
Thanks very much for your help. Should it be ok to ride on these a while? From a safety standpoint?

If you bounce up and down on the car can the noise be heard?
No, not by bouncing up and down. The only other way I’ve been able to hear anything is by standing next to the car while it’s moving and the brakes are applied.
With the car jacked up on the wheel that was hit. check
for wheel movement by grabbing the wheel at 9-3 and 6-12
position to see if the wheel bearing has a problem.
That was one of the initial checks I made. Very tight and no lateral movement. No wheel bearing issues as far as I can tell. I checked the brakes and brake caliper, as well. Again, the pins move freely and there is no evidence of an issue with the brakes/caliper.
This is really one of the most perplexing issues I’ve ever had with this car… I’m wondering if I should call the insurance company of the person that hit me and see if they’ll replace it. If not, I don’t think I’m going to worry about it.

Right rear shock noise (I double checked all the fasteners… everything is nice and tight).

*Note: The “clean spot” on the spring is a concern for me… could be where the tire maybe made contact with the spring and pushed on the shock absorber?
You could have a bad shock. If you pull on them do they feel
tight? There is two 12mm fasteners at the top. Are they loose
or do they wiggle?
Yes, I have pulled on them and there’s no lateral movement… however, the noise sure indicates there is some movement somewhere. I’ve had no issues driving the car… it handles just as before. No leaks, no issues, nothing… just a noise.
I am uploading the videos to youtube, but it’s taking a bit. I’ll post them as soon as they load.
