I had a 96 lumina that idled real low and died every so often. I got raked over the coals, they charged me for a MAP sensor replacement, and some other thing i cant remember. Bill was like $450, it helped for a day and then the same problem came back. They finally found the problem, a simple vaccum leak from the pcv valve to the valve cover. Doh!
A load test would be helpful but I dont have access to a load tester
We have had the battery on trickle charge all night so it should be good to go. Im just really curious if the ignition on/headlights on (engine off) is really just sapping that much energy from the battery or if the battery is weak and is discharging quickly cuz its getting old. It has always performed flawlessly, starts the engine right up even in Jan when the temp gets down to -10
I’ll try to get my hands on a battery load tester if possible
I bought the truck in Feb 2009 at a dealership about 40 miles from home so Im not sure where the battery came from. There are a few places in town that sell interstate batteries, maybe they will check it out for me. Also, I’ll try to find the Reserve capacity as suggested.
93 minutes @25 amps
when parked on a level surface does the rear end of the van sag or does it ride level? If it sags it could be some bad coil springs
September 30, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: Steering noise after new transmission 2009 Jeep Patriot #454834I would start off by jacking up the front and giving the wheels a shake and see if there is any play in the tie rods/ball joints and I would check to see if there is a simple solution like maybe something is rubbing
just park on level ground with out a heavy load in the van and see if sags excessively in the back. Bad springs would cause it to sag, bad shocks would cause it to bounce up and down excessively
do a good visual inspection of the wires and see if you can find something. No voltage to coil=no start, simple as that.
I dont know much on hondas but it does sound like it could possibly be a main relay too. Eric has a video about main relays if you are interested.
yes check the main relay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viIZ8k60awY
thats a good point, its hard to tell if we are dealing with a crank/no start or nocrank/no start. If its not cranking I would suggest checking Erics vid about starter diagnosis.
Pre 1995 it shows a code 41 as a cam sensor circuit fault, ignition control circuit fault
investing in a code reader may not be a bad idea either, they arent too expensive (well you can spend about whatever you want)
Its up to you. Depends on if you want to pay for 2 tie rods and 1 alignment now, or 1 tie rod and alignment now and 1 tie rod/alignment later.
