I normally pick up the small stuff at walmart, Like the wiper blades, Oil, Filters. I wouldnt really call them a rip off though, Going to just about any other auto store you would get about the same prices. Shopping around never hurt anyone!

I can see your point, But also a big problem with that is, The forums are still pretty new. There’s still less then 1000 members on the forums, Thats a good number of members. Thats not even close to half of his viewers, Of course most of them are from youtube. Sure we did take the time to register and post, And who knows maybe he will do something for the forums only. I personally didnt sign up for special attention or better chances to win something. I signed up for the simple fact that I like watching eric’s videos, And if I’m able to help give a little advice here or there why not. Just my 2 cents.

1998 Ford Contour SE, I seriously drove its wheels off…. If I said I didnt miss it I’d be lying, It’s engine was still running strong when I parted it. Still have the license Plate, Vin Plate, And other misc pieces on # 3632 in my signature. Not to mention more parts in a box on a book shelf.

If youve posted in one, I believe it shows up in your profile under the recent list.

I guess its kinda bad, that I felt I had to send him a PM apologizing for the stupidity of some people. I didnt need him to reply to that one, But within minutes I got one back. I challenge anyone to find a better person to do what he does!

Not sure why I didn’t check your profile, I normally do. Anyways it looks like a fun project. It is kinda tough to determine what type of fuel your going to have to run Being that close to the change. Hopefully you got the new engine!

Are you going to keep it stock or do some upgrades?

I would think anything that wont leave a residue should do the trick. Havent really needed to clean mine.

Got any pictures of it? Also I had no clue on what fuel you would have to use, So I did some searching and came up with this.

High performance cars from the 60’s and early 70’s require high performance gasoline. Unless the engine has already been modified, pre-1971 cars require leaded high octane gasoline to run correctly. Because leaded gasoline is no longer sold in the United States, owners of these types of vehicles need to buy lead substitute additives (around $2-$5 per bottle). A bottle is generally good for one tank of gas. Lead is critical because it acts as a lubricant for the internal engine parts and stops them from wearing out prematurely. Engines built in 1971 and later are built to run on unleaded gas so adding lead substitute is not needed. In fact, lead damages Catalytic Converters, which are required on cars built after 1977, and is more harmful to the environment. Adding a lead additive to a pre-1971 engine will literally prevent the engine from beating itself to death.

I have somewhat the same issue with my contour, On mine its the filler flap. Not sure if it will help you or not, But next time your at the pump try turning the nozzel upside down. It might look stupid, and ya might get some looks, But I know a few people that have to do this regularly to fill their tank.

I just noticed this link wasn’t working, not sure why my links act up. But if you copy and paste it into your browser it works. If you just click on it, you will need to go to the address bar and delete everything before the www.

It really is a cool car!

                              Quoted From pcmdjason:

On my wife’s car, a 2002 Galant, it can’t make it up standard red ramps so I sometimes will raise the bumper several inches with a floor jack try to get the ramp started a bit first.

You can also use a few pieces of 2×10’s to get the little bit of height you may need to clear it. The ones I posted the link to would be heavy duty, Weighing around 30-40 lbs if not more. I plan to make a set sooner or later, The ramps im using now just arent cutting it.

Without going through the links and seeing everything, I’m going to try to answer the question. Being on a few other car forums I see new stuff all the time, Some of it the majority of them like, some the majority dislike. That being said the good thing about this forum, is its not based around a certain type of auto. There is no “cookie cutter” style happening here. Where I’m going with this is that its your truck, If it makes you happy to do these upgrades, don’t let what anyone says stop it.

As for overbuilding, I cant really say there is such a thing. I’ve never seen a project that I have considered overbuilt. Though I do believe people work themselves out of a project, Meaning they spend so much time upgrading things, they start to lose interest.
