      Ok, I started 2 years ago by my self, even I tought that I was ready to split directly in the face to the oneself shop I ‘ve never imagene how hard is work by your own. Told this I suggest this:
      a) Don’t think that you are the best in the market
      b) Even you’re the owner of your time,you have to work harder and effort beyond you used to worked before, ’cause somebody near to you weak up earler than you, or close the shop later than you. All depending how much want to spend.

      c) After have the idea where you want to go, you have to promote your shop (I think in USA is easer than here in México) spear handbills in the area that you calculate to give tha service, internet,friends and parners

      d) I think to start with a medium scanner,300 pzs kit autocle, mechs gloves,voltimeter,diod light tester,internet,5 gall compressor 120v, and neumatic wrench and a good place to work with low rent is enough….

          Well for me that´s dificult to answer, lol:woohoo: I think the tool that it had saved my ass a lot lot of times, saved my skin and saved me from looking like a complete useless technician is my…….MAGENT PEN lol 😆 realy. in second place, my little metal craftman box with my 1/4 dices & my briefcase where I keep my scanner,diod lamp tester,voltimeter,my pencil solder & conectors and wires puff at last my mechs gloves

              HI I’M RAFAEL (YOU CAN TELL ME RALPH) I HAVE 26 YEAR EXPERIENCE IN CARS MY GRAN GRAN PA STARTER A MECHANICS AUTOREPIAR IN MEXICO CITY AROUND 1900 HE FIXED THOSE FORD “T” (AWSOME ISN’T? I’LL POST A PHOTO AFTER) AND SO ON, MY GRAN PA(ACTUALLY WAS MY GRAND MA’S BROTHER) TAUGHT ME MECHANICS, I BEGAN TO WORK WITH HIM, THEN I MOVE TO YUCATAN WHERE I WORKED FOR TOYOTA MERIDA, ON 2003 I WORKED FOR VW DEALER UNTILL 2008, WHEN I FELT IN THE GENERATORS FIELDS, CUMMINS GENERATORS 2 YEARS AND THEN I DECIDE TO WORK ON MY OWN SINCE 2010. IT’S BEEN A HARD WAY TO RESTART BUT THIS IS MY LIFE,CARS, AND I LIKE THE WAY THAT ERICK TALKS TROUGH YOUTUBE, HOPE SHARE EXPERIENCE AND HAVE FUN HERE… SEE YA
