I’m avoiding flat rate for as long as possible. Not enough business.
I found that if you are working for a small shop (a few techs) flat rate is great. For big shops, it sucks pretty bad. Luckily I specialize in drive-ability and electrical problems so I used to stay pretty busy no matter what the system.

It can be fun and a rewarding career, but at times it can be a nightmare. Been in the field for 15 years now. And even at my age am looking to attend the school in Nashville to add a degree to my certs. Competition is getting fierce.

A strut is any suspension component with the ability to support sideways loads not along its axis of compression therefore eliminating any need for an upper control arm.
A coilover is when you combine a spring with a strut, making it a type of strut.
A McPherson is a type of coilover
Its kinda like asking what is the difference between a dog and a German Sheppard.

Good luck
Good luck
Belive it or not I ran into the exact same problem about 5 years ago at the shop.
Crazy as it seems it was an ignition module. The run part of it worked beautifully, but the internal start bypass had burned out and would not fire the coil until the run part had gone hot.
If you want to learn electrical troubleshooting in depth, watch scannerdanner’s videos. There is even a video featuring both Eric and Scannerdanner.
I highly recommend Scannerdanner’s ebook, and don’t be intimidated by his equipment. I have 4 scopes right now, a Pico 4 channel I bought used from an auction for $400.00, a OTC 2 channel Techscope (PC based) I bought off of craigslist for $250.00 and a uscope I bought new for $400.00. You can find scopes out there for cheap you just have to be patient and get real good at your google-fu.
This one I lucked into for free, widow asked me to haul it way.

I agree, but does depend on where the OP is located.
I tried car-part.com and none of the salvage yards on that network have one listed for sale. I called a few salvage yards in Nashville and no dice either, figured worst case he could call and have it shipped to him if they had one.

Sorry to hear that.
Smack a couple deer in my life with vehicles also. Living in TN you kinda learn to dodge ’em.
