I should clarify that the new O-ring i put in our Ody was an updated model, which is red in color. If the pump in your Accord is the same one that’s in our Odyssey (And I wouldn’t rule out the possibility), it’s possible that it has the older black )-ring in it. The updated O-ring was increased in thickness specifically to address the problem you’re having.
I had this same issue with our 2006 Odyssey. The fix, in our case, was an o-ring at either the inlet or the outlet at the pump (I can’t remember which). The colder weather makes the o-ring shrink a little and allow air past the seal until the engine warms up, and then it’s properly sealing the passage again and no more air is entering the system. Replace the o-ring, and your problem may go away. I looked up your car (Model and year, anyway, I put in EXL as the trim level, it shouldn’t necessarily matter), and the part number for the o-ring I’m thinking of is 91370-SV4-000. 98 cents. Worth a shot. Good luck.
I agree with the above replies, Eric. This is your YouTube channel, and whatever you post, I’ll watch. There are some things I’d like to see but I’m watching so many other things on YouTube and Netflix that I’m more than patient enough to see them. Most notable among those is the conversion of the truck back to its original manual transmission, if you decide to go that route. I also enjoy watching the old repair videos, especially on the Hondas, so that I can glean any similarities with my girlfriend’s 2006 Odyssey. They have already helped me immensely, as just last weekend my friend and I (mostly him) replaced the entire suspension, both drive axles, outer and inner tie rod ends, wheel bearings and front ball joints. It was a mighty undertaking, but watching videos from you and Eric Or made the whole thing more palatable.
Keep doing what you’re doing, man. And Stay Dirty. And let is know if you’ve put any more thought into this year’s Meetup(s). Would be an honor to meet you.
Charlie
Hey, Eric,
I’m curious what you have going on with the Element’s headlights, but I have a more important question. My girlfriend’s ’06 Odyssey just turned 120k and is making the telltale roaring noise of a bad wheel bearing. Instead of just replacing the bearing, I want to dive the whole way in and replace both front bearings, both lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, both half shafts, all four dampers and progressive rate rear springs. Is this a wise course of action or am I doing too much work too soon? One advantage to this course of action would be to get the lower control arm, steering spindle and strut out of the way when I replace the timing belt and water pump. Your thoughts?
Quick question:. Any idea when Meetup 2017 will take place? Just trying to plan out my summer vacation schedule and I’m definitely planning on making it out there this year. Hope you and the family had a great Christmas and New Year and can’t wait to see what you do with the Fairmont and Dad’s Truck.
