Nope. I do not have a scan tool. Can I get one at the local auto parts store? Would the scan tool read more than just the thermostat? Sounds like this would be useful in the future anyways.

I am praying that it isn’t a clogged radiator. If it is then tomorrow will be my research day on how to effectively change out a radiator.

          Welp… I am going to ‘burp’ it…

I get what you’re saying. I just had the head gasket worked on and replaced this past Thursday. I am going to do a block test on it anyways. I am sure the machine shop didn’t screw it up. Oddly enough, the light went off after opening the cap and putting it back on this morning. Then it came back on tonight. Weird! But it hasn’t overheated (fingers crossed)… yet.

I feel like I am living in some kinda “reactive overheating Bermuda Triangle of Georgia” or something. … Maybe it IS a faulty thermostat… I am still paranoid while driving though. Whoever finds out my problem deserves a friggin’ Nobel Prize in Mechanics!

By the way, no coolant lost, the check engine light turns off after bleeding the system. It turns back on hours later and slowly starts to rise in temperature. Gauge seems to fluctuate a bit as well. Hasn’t ran hot since I picked it up this evening, but the check engine light flicked on and it is just as bright as can be! So, it’s only a matter of hours til that meter goes up and I start having little mini heart attacks about being stranded… Again. Sometimes I think towing companies should have a punch card… “Fifth tow free” 😀

Thanks for all of your suggestions 😀 Here is a new piece of information: mechanic called after doing some testing (4th mechanic). He asked if someone had put a sealant in the system because he claims there is a blockage in the radiator. Third mechanic did this thinking it would help the head gasket situation. So apparently, I need yet another radiator which the first mechanic put in three months ago when I was left stranded in an unfamiliar area a couple of hours from home. Why do I feel like the next person I go to will tell me I need more new stuff? … Oh, and I need a new heater valve. Any ideas?! Is the third mechanic responsible for the blockage in the radiator?
