I always have a set of tools. Engine oil (1-liter bottle), some fluids for radiator and a duct tape.
Once I had an accident when an upper hose of radiator ripped and started liking. Good thing it happened at the traffic light. I fixed with a piece of a plastic bag wrapped around the hose and duct tape. And additionally during winter I also have a shovel in my trunk. Often drive off road. Once I had to walk almost 7 km to the closest village to borrow a shovel ๐On my Subaru I replaced ps fluid with front wheels off the ground.
Engine running,
I turned slowly wheel lock to lock a couple of times
Let the air to dissipate for over 15-20 min and then repeated step 2
All procedure took over 1-2 hours. Tedious but fun ๐Especially when I had fought for hours with bubbles coming out of reservoir. but mostly it looked more like foam. Turned out o-ring shifted a bit and part of it was squeezed between metal parts letting air to be sucked in. Still was fun )))
By the way, Does anyone know whether subaru’s ps pumps have bearing or just seals?
Because when weather gets colder and in the morning sound of car…well, it’s not pleasant to hear until car warms up.On my Subaru I replaced ps fluid with front wheels off the ground.

Because when weather gets colder and in the morning sound of car…well, it’s not pleasant to hear until car warms up.Well, it was a lot simpler than I’d thought. Today I did one more check which I should have done in the first place. I checked the battery with the key on(I did without key on and it looked ok) and a multimeter showed that the battery was half dead. I have no idea how I managed to kill it over one night considering that everything in the car was turned off.
I am glad that I finally dealt with it. Now I’ll be trying to figure out p0420 problem. I assume it’s either o2 sensor or exhaust leakage. Car has 122k km (75 k miles) so I don’t think it s a bad CAT.Well, it was a lot simpler than I’d thought. Today I did one more check which I should have done in the first place. I agree that it is an electrical issue. Today I checked everything I could with no luck. Tomorrow I’ll have it checked by an electrician.

The Battery is new.
Only code I have and it popped on just one day ago is p0420.
I was trying to take codes but all lights on dashboard were just fading away and then completely turned off.
Tomorrow I’ll try method with the starter.Hypothetically, Could that what I described above have killed something in the car and caused no start?
Thank you.
