My boss wouldn’t fire us. Its really for him to have plausible deniability. The dealership owner would 100% can us though. Oh well, if they fire me for helping someone and spreading positive word about our dealership then I don’t need to be there. So far, so good luckily.
That’s why we begged the two people not to tell our boss or anyone outside the guys agreeing to help lol. Thankfully everything has worked out so far.

We just hired a new LOF tech at work. He asked me for advice, I saw this on my phone and told him I would print it out for him to read it. I hope you know that you have helped me tremendously, and with this you have helped our new tech.
I appreciate the time it took to write all this. And I will print it out and put it in a folder at work, so I can refer to it as much as I can and show it to new techs we bring on.

About 60% of the reason I got into auto repair is to help people. I grew up incredibly poor and we fixed our own cars. Sometimes my pops would call a buddy on something he was over his head on. Many of his auto buddies saved us tons of money. Even as a kid I saw how much it means to help just a little. Our field has gotten a black eye because of dishonesty. Which is sad because the world would literally stop if our people stopped fixing cars, trucks, machines.

Sunday we had a guy come in with his Genesis turbo 4 door. Oil was all over his splash gaurd, like someone didn’t tighten a drain plug or oil filter. He went to Firestone, another Hyaundai dealership, and then us.
He asked if he could come out and watch us work on it. I asked my boss and he said sure. Come to find out the other places wouldn’t show him what’s wrong. They told him he needed a new head, head gasket (of course), a new turbo, oil pan and a few other things.
We brought him out, explained he had a few feed lines leaking and showed him. Explained we had the parts and we could have it all fixed up in an hour.
He was blown away. I forgot to snap a pic. I honestly though he blew a gasket or cracked the head on his engine.
He was relieved when we showed him everything.
I seen just today someone vise grip holding up shock because upper mount pulled thru and customer told me other shop fix there shocks and good I show they what I found and now they are going get money back and have us do repair right
We had something similar, and the customer flat out accused us of doing it so we can scare them out of money. Thebscary part is people drive those cars on the same roads as us.
I always found minding your own business and focusing what you’re doing helps flag more time.
Its amazing how many people I work with do, and do not get this. The best techs we have are quiet to the point of almost being snobs, but they are focusing on what they are doing. Our hack techs work on a car, bs for a few minutes then work on the car some more. Slow prod times and a lot of returns.

They’ve told me at work I’m pretty squared away, I just need more time on the GDS system. Which is our code tablet we use to diagnose code issues. I am treading lightly though, not pushing to swim in the ocean straight out of the pool.
