Hmmm…off the bat if things are spinning then it’s probably not an ignition issue. You mentioned that the top half of the engine is not running…got any more info?

The clam-shell looks like a great tool. However, I do see the option for buying the $40 dollar tool…I know safety safety safety, can’t put a price on safety, but, if one wears safety glasses and works carefully and is not in a huge hurry, it can be done. I would say, if you got that extra money and you see yourself using it multiple times, go for the clam-shell.

I’m nervous about doing a timing belt change myself…I have a 99 eclipse that needs it, but it’s got a bit more room to work with on top and around the front of the engine bay so I’ll be re-re-re-watching Eric’s timing belt vid. Congrats!

Yeah, I feel like, the torque values are assigning numbers for items that indicate LITTLE torque, (valve covers or oil pans) or items that require LARGE torque. I’ve heard that a certain few Porches require heavy torque on rear axle bolts (forgot which bolts). But anyways, I say it depends, but most definitely when it comes to engine, do it.
