This procedure can only be done with the SES light off and all codes cleared.
1) Drive the car to “warm up” temperature. Make sure your idle is close to 700 rpm.
2) Turn the car ignition key to “OFF”
3) Wait ten seconds
4) Turn the key to “ON” (not start)
5) Wait three seconds.
6) Fully press and release the gas pedal 5 times within five seconds.
7) Count seven ‘steamboat’ seconds from last of the five releases.
8) Fully press the gas pedal and hold down. Within ten seconds the “Service Engine Soon” light should begin to blink.
9) Wait another ten seconds (while still holding the gas pedal) and the “Service Engine Soon” light should stop blinking.
10) As soon as it stops blinking, release the pedal, start the car and check the idle. You should be starting the car within 3 seconds of the engine light turning solid.
11) Let the car idle at 700 rpm or so for about 25 seconds, rev the engine a few times and then let it return to idle.Turns out the p0306 was caused by the faulty fuel injector. Mechanically I could hear it ticking away, but I guess electronically it wasn’t working. Hopefully the other five injectors make it through the winter… Thanks all!.:woohoo:

Well good news so far, car does feel much better with the new fuel injector and no CEL. Tomorrow I’ll go for a long drive just to be sure. Thanks all for your help and suggestions!.
I just got burned on one the other week and replaced the injector and it turned out to be a leaking intake gasket. FYI.
That was quite the timing on that video, watched it this morning. I tried the water spay and couldn’t find a leak around the gasket. That will be a very helpful video for sure. Thanks Eric!.

I have a injector on order. Reading through several Nissan sites I belong to suggest replacing Nissan’s known trouble some injectors as you have also mentioned. I think this is a good gamble if I was to be throwing money at buying parts. I could have swapped out injectors as I did with cp’s, but its kind of a pain my Altima. I’ll report back when I’m finished.

I can hear the injectors ticking away. I’ve not tried looking for vacuum leaks. I just find it strange that during my knock sensor harness issue the #6 misfire happens

I thought it might be my remote start because the wire for it is connected to Cylinder #6 fuel injector. I removed the wire, but that didn’t solve the problem. Hard start returned and p0306. How do I check the injector?, I do hear it clicking.
