They are floating calipers. Don’t get me wrong they work they just aren’t as efficient as they should be. The truck I drive for work is one year older and the brakes are a million times better. I have greased the pins before about a year ago. Currently I think my plan is to start with the rear brakes and put in new adjusters and springs and all that fun stuff and maybe try swapping the drums I have never thought of that. Then I’ll work to the front with rotors and pads and see if that fixes it.

today I finally got the fuel sending unit replaced. It took me and my dad about 2 hours total including the time we took to go to town and get a swivel socket for 2 bolts that wanted to be difficult (we showed them). and now my gas gauge seems to work perfectly fine ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for the help.

I grounded the purple wire and the gauge went to E not F does that mean something different?? also now it keeps have different readings it seems to work ok from about a quarter tank down. anything over that and its all over the place. My thought is if it was a bad ground it wouldnt work all the time or wouldnt have a pattern and if it was the gauge i would think that it wouldnt work ever but im not really sure. I checked the ground too while i was under there and it seemed to be clean and tight. I loosened it and moved it around a little scraping to metal to get any gunk off or out and put it back in tight.

I just thought I would give a quick update. I still have not had this problem reappear or had any hard shifting. everything seems to be working just fine now ๐Ÿ™‚

sorry its been a while since I logged on. I have been busy with work and trying to get things lined out for school plus I recently got engaged to the girl of my dreams so we have been getting that stuff figured out. anyway I talked to my cousin in town and he took my truck for a drive. he thought it felt like the rear brakes just needed adjusted. So i took a look at them and they are tight but not as tight as he described they should be. funny thing is I had a chain store shop adjust them not to long ago and they charged me a 12 pack of mountain dew. I adjusted the brakes tighter untill i had a slightly difficult time getting the drums back on and it fixed the whole problem they work great now! ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for the help though I greatly appreciate it.

thanks for the info. unfortunatley I dont think that it is adjustable. I took the master cylinder off and it didnt look like it could be adjusted but I didnt try real hard either so I could be wrong.

today I decided while i the help of my dad to try bleeding it all again. we bled all four tires in order. then i took it and used the abs and bled them again afterward. the brakes felt better but not great and by the time i got home they were back to how they were :(.

this evening I went to town and just for fun I decided to take the ABS fuse out. that seemed to make a big difference in pedal travel and brake grab. so I went and talked to my cousins shop to see about haveing them bleed it with the scan tool. they said that it would be about an hour labor and whatever material they used so around $75. if i am going to go this route though I want to make sure that that is the problem or that it will atleast help. what are your thoughts

hey thanks for the info! i have been reading as much as i can on it, however i have not had any problems since that one morning. no codes or hard shifts or anything. in fact it feels to me as though it shifts better and smoother. I am still a little suspicious though things like that usually dont just mysteriously disappear. but also im working part time and getting ready for college so im not really sure what direction to head :/
